NBS NELSON GOLF CLUB NEWSLETTER - 29 DECEMBER 2011
COURSE CONDITION:
Before this latest rain today, the course had dried out well as the water table dropped and the surface water had somewhere to drain to. The fairways and first cut of rough have been mown again today and are coming back nicely. Although the greens are playing a little slower than normal, they are in a healthy condition and have come through the "big wet" very well.
All bunkers that do not have any water in them were raked and restored by our grounds staff today. Depending on the severity of this current rainfall, we hope to bring ALL BUNKERS back into play except for those still under construction and classed as GUR (ie. those between #11 and #16). If a player's ball lands in water within a bunker, the player can take relief as for casual water, except that the nearest point of relief must be in the bunker. However, under penalty of one stroke, a player may choose to drop outside of the bunker, keeping the point where the ball lay directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind the bunker the ball may be dropped.
Until the rain stops and the bunkers are assessed, the current local rule of all bunkers being classed as GUR will apply.
