REPORT ON OLD HICKORY TOURNAMENT - THURSDAY 1 APRIL:

Ken Howden (Convenor of our Old Hickory Team) has supplied the following report on the latest round of the Old Hickory Trophy, held on April Fools Day at Waahi Taakaro.

"Well nothing has changed!! Welcome Russell Baillie to the team, it was a shame there were only three players who performed well - Russell Baillie & Grant Tilley 35 and Laurie Currie 33. With Jim & Ken on 30 and Phil on 29, you got it, bottom again!!

The winning team, Waahi-Taakaro on 163, averaging 41 points, hard to beat. Greenacres 153, Motueka 152, Takaka 150, Tasman 137, Totaradale 136 and Nelson 133. The next round is at Nelson on the 6th of May so we will do better at home won't we!!!
Watch this space. Ken."

REPORT ON EASTER ACTIVITY FROM THE MEN'S CAPTAIN:

Owen Kirker (Men's Captain) has suppied the following report on activity over the Easter weekend.

Mabin Cup Winners:

Maree and Murray West won the traditional Easter Monday Mabin Cup tournament with a best ball stableford total of 52. In a field of 33 pairs Maree shot a personal best to lead Murray to victory by one point.
Sharing second place on 51 points were Michelle and Kevin Sowman and Esther and Ray Dyson. Michelle also had a personal best. Maureen and Derrick Gould were next on 49 points.
After all the windy days experienced over the last month, players enjoyed the more gentle conditions. Louise Shore was yet another woman to take advantage of the conditions, shooting an 88 off a 26 handicap.
New McQuade Mug Holder:

Rob Souden is the new holder of the McQuade Mug after winning the stableford round on Saturday, April 3.

The scores achieved reflected the pleasant playing conditions. Rob led the field home with 44 points. He was one of the last players to complete his round so Eric Brown, back in the clubhouse earlier, was feeling reasonably confident about his 43 points but had to settle for second.

Bill Rooney and Les Humphries each had 42 points, Gorden Harvey and Neville Smith 41 and Merv Huston and Lindsay Rosser 40.
