NBS NELSON GOLF CLUB NEWSLETTER - 1 DECEMBER 2011

RESULTS FROM SOUTH PINE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT - 26 & 27 NOVEMBER:

Although the number of players were down on previous years, the competition in this popular annual tournament was just as intense as usual. Unfortunately, gale force SW winds plagued our course on the Saturday, particularly for the morning field. Scoring was understandably high except for Brett Allan who managed to master the wind that morning and shoot a 76.

Several members from our Club won prizes in this tournament but special congratulations go to LES (The Silver Fox) HUMPHRIES who was the overall nett winner and to BRETT ALLAN who was the overall gross winner - well done!!

TOTAL GOLF XMAS TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 3 DECEMBER:

Entries are still being taken for Glyn's Xmas Tournament. Entry fee is $20 including twos, and there is a good prize table. Choice of a 8.00am or 12.45pm shotgun start. Start sheets are in the Pro-Shop so put your name down or phone the Pro-Shop 548 5028 to enter.

NZPGA TRAINEE OF THE YEAR - SEAN RIORDAN:

This week it was announced that our own SEAN RIORDAN was awarded Trainee of the Year for the First Year Class of NZPGA Golf Professional Apprentices. He receives a scholarship covering his second year fees valued at $4,800. Well done Sean - well deserved!!

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - 7.30pm TUESDAY 6 DECEMBER:

Members are reminded that the Club's AGM is scheduled for 7.30pm on Tuesday 6 December. Postal votes may be cast at the office on any of the matters to be voted on, but must be received 48 hours before the start of the meeting.

VETS SALVATION ARMY CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT - MONDAY 12 DECEMBER:

Our Vets 100 Group are running their usual monthly golf tournament on Monday 12 December, but this time are raising money for the Salvation Army Xmas Appeal. Entry fee is $10 plus twos with all monies received going to the Appeal. You can help make someone else's Xmas a lot better by turning up at 9.30am and participating in this tournament. There is a shotgun start at 10.00am.

COURSE MATTERS:

Please DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS. The Paradise ducks in particular have developed a liking for the new grass establishing on our #5 fairway and are causing damage.

Brendon appologises for having to use the irrigation during the day this last week. However, his new computer has now been installed and the improved irrigation software tested. Our irrigation system will be back to normal operation from tomorrow so Brendon can now catch up on some lost sleep.

The work on covering over the old bunker on the right side of #15 has now been completed with turf being placed over the new mound. It will remain as GUR until the turf settles. Please note that the new bunker beside the green is still in play.
