This week the 5th Waste area has had a fine layer of sand applied to the whole area. Last Autumn we sowed the base of the waste area with a blend of Fescue grass seed. This was an attempt to fix the issue of the sand blowing around in high winds. Now that a solid base has been established with the grass, we have applied a layer of sand to make it look and play like we originally planned. It looks a lot tidier now and hopefully the theory proves effective.
All the Tee distance marker blocks have been trimmed around and will soon be painted.
The areas of GUR where new grass has been sown on the fairways have been re-marked. Most of the fences have been taken down apart from in front of the hill on the 16th. Please respect these areas and for your benefit, the more we stay off these areas, the better the long term establishment will be.
The areas around the Clubhouse, the Practice Nets, Gardens, etc, have all been sprayed for unwanted grass and weeds. This is a good job for the frosty mornings when we can’t get out on the Course.
