In preparation for next weeks major Verti-Draining, we double verti-cut and sanded the Greens on Monday. They will be Verti-Drained beginning on Monday and are usually back in reasonable condition with-in a week to 10 days. They will receive another Verti-cut and sanding as soon as the ground conditions allow to assist recovery. I like to keep the machines off the Greens until towards the end of the week, as the weight of the machines can create tyre mark grooves in the surface which affect putting for awhile.
Please remember this is the worst condition the Greens are in all year. The Greens are back to a reasonable condition usually in approx a week. This procedure is vital in allowing us to continue to manage the Greens without resorting to the coring process which used to close the Course for 3 days and take a month to 6 weeks for the Greens to be back to normal.
