Members will have noticed the lack of water in the pond between the clubhouse and No. 10. No, it is not the result of the pumping trials being conducted to assess flows from aquifers under the course. These continue to provide a flow and give satisfactory results, even though it is summer time. The state of the pond, along with the Frog Puddle by No. 3 and Mills Pond by No. 1 simply reflect the very dry summer and evaporation that occurs during warm dry periods.
The water supply committee is pleased with the continuing flows from the test bores and testing will continue in the dry conditions for a further five weeks to give the best possible evaluation.
When is construction likely of the storage pond between the fairways of holes 7 and 12? That depends on resource consent progress. We could be doing earthworks next summer.
