Golf is Social
Golf is great fun. It’s a fair sporting challenge. It’s extremely social… a great way to meet new friends and there are many health benefits.
Golf can:
- be a great way to keep in touch with friends
- provide opportunities to meet new people
- help develop a sense of community connectedness.
Golf is Healthy
Playing golf is great exercise for your body, mind, and spirit. Playing golf burns calories, gets you moving, restores balance, builds brain power, and makes you happier overall. Did you know that walking an 18-hole round of golf is roughly the same as a 5-mile walk? And that a 5-mile walk provides the recommended daily number of steps adults should take?
Golf helps in reducing stress
Golf helps in reducing stress (as a result of the physical activity and also due to the pleasure of walking in an open and natural environment)
A recent study conducted by the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) found the death rate for golfers is 40 percent lower than for other people of the same sex, age and socioeconomic status. This equates to a 5-year increase in life expectancy for regular golfers.
The study was published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports and is based on data compiled from studying 300,000 Swedish golfers.
