Sorry about the lack of a post last week. We had a busy week especially after the sander decided to leak hydraulic oil on the 17th Green. There were many theories on what the black stuff was on the Green. It was Activated Charcoal which is applied to minimise the damage done to the grass when a leak occurs. The damage doesn’t look too bad at this stage and remedial work will be done depending how it looks by the end of next week.
The Greens have been sanded the past 2 Mondays. They are back to normal playing conditions now but will be kept healthy over the next month during the short weeks. This will result in them being a bit slower than normal but we wont have time to maintain them as we would normally with staff on annual leave and the short weeks.
I think I have now sprayed the majority of the weeds. No doubt there will be a few that I have missed and these will be taken care of with a follow-up spray.
Thank you to the kind members who donated the Greenkeepers a new Micro-wave, especially grateful for the one that arrived with fresh scones in it.
