Congratulations to all the winners of the various trophies in last weekends Club Champs.
The long rough that was recently topped was sprayed with a strong herbicide this week. The aim is to reduce the unwanted thick grass leaving the thinner grass which will still provide a hazard but allow you to find your ball. This chemical application normally takes 4 weeks to show how effective it is. Effectiveness is dependent on many factors both before the application and after. If it is deemed too thick, a follow up application will go ahead in early November.
The Greens have had a liquid fertilizer applied as well as a water penetrant / retainer applied. The 5th and 18th Fairways have had a similar water retainer applied to assist with turf health.
If the weather allows, We will needle tine, sand and verti-cut the Greens during next week. This the major part of the normal monthly renovation program.
