This week the Greens were sprayed for moss and also a disease we get in Winter called Persistence Disease. The chemical for Persistence requires watering in which was why some of you may have noticed the irrigation running on Wednesday. You can be sure that as soon as I fill the sprayer with a load that requires watering in, The rain that was forecast to continue all day stops as it did on Wednesday.
We haven’t been able to sand the Greens since we Verti-Drained them. This is due to a combination of a busy program and weather restrictions. We have had 107mm of rain since we Verti- Drained them which is causing them to be softer than usual. I have had many people asking when we were going to sand to fill the holes up. What I am aiming to do with sanding is to restore the smooth playing surface, not fill up the holes. Essentially, I want the underground disruption to remain but still provide a smooth surface as soon as possible.
